Our Lake

Our 20 acre lake is in the center of the campground and has many types of natural inhabitants. Many types of birds, fish, and reptiles live in or on the lake. The lake has bass, blue gill, crappie, and catfish which are caught by the campers from shore or from electric boats. To maintain a clean and quiet lake no gasoline boats are allowed on the lake. Caution should be exercised when on or near the lake since it is a natural environment and some of the local fauna can be dangerous. Alligators are indigenous to Florida and routinely visit most of the local bodies of water. Leave them alone and most of all, don't feed them. They can be very dangerous.

Climate

Southwest Florida enjoys excellent climate all year, with the most enjoyable weather coming from November to April. Temperatures average 64 degrees Fahrenheit in January and 81.9 in August. Winds are normally from the east at 12-18 mph. Average rainfall is about 54 inches a year. this high rainfall produces a 10 month growing season! You will enjoy the lush green landscapes year round.

Baseball

We have a major league team which has its spring training in Charlotte county. The Texas Rangers play in Charlotte County Stadium. There are major league training games nearly every day from February to April and other leagues throughout the summer. The popular Grapefruit Leaguehas 20 teams and has games throughout spring training.

Manatees

Manatees are also known as "Florida's Mermaids". These gentle mammals are as playful and friendly as pups if approached properly. Swimming and snorkeling with them is a wonderful life long memory.

Local Birds

Many of these birds can be seen at Ponce De Leon park where a bird hospital is supported by public donations.

Local Fishing

Charlotte Harbor and Gasparilla Sound include 750,000 acres of estuary the perfect fishermans paradise! Our waters teem with plentiful game and food fish including flounder, pompano, snook,, grouper, redfish, mangrove snapper, spotted trout, sheepshead, bluefish, kingfish, mackerel, and of course, in the spring and summer, the mighty tarpon. Bay scallops, oysters, crab, and lobsters and other shellfish are also readily caught.

Whatever your taste in fishing, or your level of expertise, you can find your fishing niche here. You can fish from piers and seawalls, in the surf and from boats. Two local fishing piers are close by. Rember you must have a license.
